When I had my first job in Iloilo (one of cities in the Philippines), I did hang out with my officemates. We would usually eat and go out together. It was really fun. But now, I don't anymore do that cause my officemates are 5 guys and a woman and they already have families to attend to. They would rather spend their money on important things than spend it partying. I understand them and we're still close to each other even if we don't always hang out. I think it's also nice to have space from my officemates.;)

I agree with you, gianena that we can still be friends with our officemates even if we don't hang out with them.

Yes, I can hang out with a few of them after work at the pizza parlor or the burger stand. I do not go out with anyone or group beyond that. I can't afford to spend time for activities above that. Besides, as I had been constantly told, I am a killjoy because hanging out at bars and discos or moviehouses are never my good cup of tea.

Every place that I worked I kept business and my personal life separate. I have listened to the girls come in the next day after a night out and it would make for a good book. The way they talked about each other behind their backs, was awful. I just stayed clear of them. I never really had much in common with the people that I worked with.

yes ofcourse why not. when usually working as an employee for alote of hours the friends you meet and go out with are usually the friends you work with..i think it is pretty natural so i have a few very good friends that are not from my work and alote of friends i made from my work place:)

I have mixed with co-workers in the past, some more than others, but right now, I'm not working. When I was married, I had a part-time job at the same place as my husband (two places, actually) so that's probably the closest I've been to a co-worker. I've stayed in touch with a couple people I used to work with, but mostly it's been "Out of sight, out of mind."

At every place i have worked i have found some people that I like very much, and that I see outside of work as well. At this one place i worked we were almost all young girls without partner or children. we spent almost all our time together. Working during the day - partying at night. It was great for a couple of years. I still meet two of my old workmates for dinner and whine regularly. We are no longer co-workers but good, close friends.

i would totally hang out with coworkers. i mean if you all can actually go out and have dinner or somethin. i wouldn't get to personal at all. i would try to keep it a little business like i guess. depends on how competitive your job is. if you get to presonal they could totally use what info they can get to take over your spot or whatever. but i would go hang out but not on a real friends level.
