As far as I know the cancer causing part of the food is only when it is burnt. this can happen when grilled, roasting or bbqing so as long as you cook it properly and don't burn or char it then you will be ok.

Michelledarcey is correct.....only the charred parts are a problem. Removing the blackened portion will cut your risks significantly.

Eating salads like cucumber and green vegetable salads help in absorbing the toxins that you get from barbecued foods. You can also drink pineapple juice for the same purpose. That's what I heard. ;p
