When is the correct time to expose children to violent things?

In my opinion, never. But I know that is unrealistic. I think it is best to shield them from violence but let them know that violence exists and how they can protect themselves from violence. Violence is even in the Bible but it is clear that much of the violence in our world is due to the evilness of sin. And that is what should really be taught to children.
