I've never done Karoke in a bar or in public (I have stage fright), but I have found that I love doing it at home with my friends. We either use the computer or x-box to run software and songs. It's great fun! I'm not a good singer, but with my friends, I don't care. It's the laughing and having fun that's important.
I find that it's easier for me to sing songs that men sing. Womean's songs are often too high pitched for me.
Some that I really love singing are Crazy by Areosmith, Wunderwall by Oasis, and Unusual by Tom Jones....that ones is especially fun the later it gets.
Do you like karoke? What do you like to sing?

Oh I love it. I love singing and have quite a good voice too, haha. :P
But nah, I usually get a private room with friends. We don't use the public lounge.

I wish the US had more places with pirvate rooms and such. Here some bars usualy have a karaoke night, one night during the week. I have a full time job so it's hard for me to go out during the week....I'm just too tired. Idon't think the culture has caught on here like it has other places in the world...sadly.

Good point Twilight. I don't think there are any places in the US (or at least no where I live) that are specific karaoke bars. I love the idea of renting a small room for you and your friends where you can drink and sing all night. The best thing we can do around here is set up a system on the computer at a friend's house. I suppose it is safer that way if we are going to drink though, then we can all just sleep over.

here in the philippines KARAOKE is part of our culture, almost all parties need to have a KARAOKE machine. We have advance technology when it comes to KARAOKE machines, microphone. hahaha...! even kids sing through KARAOKE... we practice our vocals through singing in KARAOKE and for that... i'll admit! I SUPER LOVE IT! :))

That sounds like so much fun. I wish more people in the states were into it. I'd love to see some karaoke advance technology. Maybe it can make me sound better ;-)

Oh karaoke can be a riot! I love it! My problem is that it seems everytime a local joint has a karaoke night, the music is all country! I live in a very small, backward town in the middle of nowhere where most people are country music lovers. I liked karaoke the way it was done in the town from which I moved. Now, I have absolutely zero (zilch, zip, nada, none) singing talent, but I love karaoke! I have been known to cause people to laugh so hard that they have soiled themselves when I 'perform.' I think we all need to let our hair down and make a fool of ourselves every now and then! What is that saying, "dance like nobody's watching"....well, i say "sing like nobody's watachin!" I bet 100 years from now they will have discovered that karaoke is the cure for 3/4 of what ails us!

You are so right! Karaoke is a great pick me up! You just have to check you inhibitions at the door :-)
I don't know any country songs either so I would be in trouble.
Thanks for commenting!

I went to a party once and we sang karaoke for almost 5 hours. No joke! We were having so much fun singing our hearts out and laughing. For instance, the girls would sing tough guy songs and the boys would sing really sappy love songs that made us all laugh so hard that some of us had tears in our eyes. It's also fun to find out that some of your friends can be really good singers. Whenever I sing with my friends, we use computer programs that score your pitch. We don't get that competitive, but it's nice to cheer people on when they do a really good job at hitting the right notes.
I don't think I would like doing karaoke in public, with my friends it really is great because you don't have to worry about embarassing yourself in front of them.
Some of my favorite songs to sing are The Theme from Neverending Story, Don't Know Why by Nora Jones, and I'm coming Up by Pink.

Oh those are great songs! The last party I went to where we sang, our most gruff guy friend sang "Underneath your clothes" by Shakira. It was Hilarious! We were all dying! He's also very fond of singing songs in German...He has the theme song to that old saturday morning cartoon, Gummy Bears. It's an absolute riot when he sings that!
