Okay, so I was in the doctor's office not too long ago and I notice the wait for the person I was with was kind of long, so I peruse the waiting room area, but what do I see? Magazines? But not the kind that people read. Why is it that doctors' clinics often have magazines that are obscure to the general public? Not necessarily medically-based magazines, but those based on things like outdoor hunting and home decorating? Why don't you see magazines like Time or Newsweek there? Any doctors on MYLOT, I'd espeically take interest in your response.

Large clinics usually have Time and Newsweek. Of course they are months or years old. I think people sometimes take the more obscure magazines as a way of spreading ideas not talked about in the main stream media. I have toyed with the idea of dropping of MAD magazine or something equally tasteless.

I have noticed some really boring magazines in doctor's offices as you said...
I don't think they realize how boring it is to just sit and wait with not much of interest to read. They surely can afford a few magazine subscriptions for their patients! Actually I get a kick out of People magazine, but it's rather expensive --however my dentist is a subscriber. They usually call me in WAY before I'm ready to put the magazine down, lol.

Hi, I'm an ophthalmologist in the Philippines. Hm, I guess the mags are based on the doctors' interests. In our clinic, we have Cosmopolitan, Entrepreneur, Fortune, Time, Yes (a local gossip mag), Good Housekeeping etc. I read them too. Maybe that's what your doctors read?

My doctor is just the opposite of yours. I see Time, and Newsweek in his office and wish he would have more family oriented magazines. I do hate to start reading an article though and then have the nurse call me in for my appointment. I have asked her a couple of times if she would make a copy of the article for me. Once she just told me to take the whole magazine and the other time she did copy it. They are very nice.
