What is the big deal about gourmet coffees?

I am a coffee drinker, I am very faithful to my classic maxwell house. I just don't get the big deal with gourmet coffees? Maybe I am just sheltered. I do occasionally have an iced coffee at Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks, but it is not a must have! Anyone out there with insights to broaden my horizons?

I have no idea myself. I don't even care for Starbucks. I like milestone. I grind it myself, and like the flavor. Even McDonalds make a great cup of coffee.

Your right Mickey D's does make a good cup of coffee. I do like some of Starbucks drinks. If I get a hankering for an iced coffee, they have a great one with caramel flavoring that I really like. It is nice on a hot day!

I really like millstone. I can ground it the way I like and make it the strength I like, which is very strong.

I tell ya sometimes I make such strong coffee, I can feel my bones jitter. I had to lay off and make weaker coffee because I looked like a rabid squirrel afterwards! I have had millstone and it is a good brand. I was brought up on folgers or maxwell house.
