Phone voices...

Does you voice change when you are on the phone and the person you are speaking with has a different tone of voice than you? can you sound angry if the person on the phone is angry? do you begin to pick up their intonation and mimic their vocal tendencies? i know it happens to me all the time. I work at a place where I am on the phone a lot and my voice tends to copy the people I am speaking to. Does that happen to you?

I think it tends to happen if you're not really, really careful about it. But, I also think it works reciprocally. If you stay calm, the other person would be likely to calm down a bit, as well.

I don't receive or do lots of phone calls coz my work is mostly technical.. but when I get to talk to somebody on the phone, I tend to speak my heart and mind.. I mean, if I feel angry then I raise my voice a bit... but it does not necessarily depends on the person am speaking with.. I can still remain calm though the person on the other line is already sounding mad if I can still hold my temper.
