when every where you go and every where you turn the news and the papers are throwing bad new at you, what do you do to keep your mind and feelings up beat and positive? I don't read the paper nor do i watch the news. I have now even stayed away from conversations that are not talking about something positive. what do you do to keep your mind clear?

I shake my head and thank my lucky stars I am standing in the spot I am. I count my blessings one by one and tell myself, "There but by the Grace of God go I". Then I go in prayer for whomever the sad/bad news is about. It can't hurt to send some prayers up for the whole world, including our leaders.

Oh that is so true. you know you just wish them the best. that is all that we can do in some situations. and in others we can help. so i say help when you can and pray when you helping is not that easy. a good prayer when you mean every word is the best help

I am so like you. I dont watch, read or listen to the news. If there is anything I need to know, my husband will tell me. He is a news aholic. Wouldnt it be so great to wake up and pick up the news paper and see in huge letters, "There is no bad news today". Instead of any thing bad it would tell how someone helped someone? That would be great!

see that is what i am talking about. reading about the wonderful things that people do. all the good that is going on. there is alot of great things going on and great people doing them. but we only hear about that once in a the while on page 9. i should start my own paper of good news!!

I never buy a newspaper anymore and will watch the news occasionally nowadays as the events of today are so depressing.
I enjoy watching programmes that have a feel good factor and I like to read positive stories about good things that are happening around the world. Sometimes I forget that good deeds still exist.
However, I still get very angry when I hear of all the injustice in this world and I love a great debate with people.
I have been quite an activist in my life and I know I don't think I will ever change, but I do have to limit my exposure to all this as sometimes I feel it is too much to take in and deal with.

it can be a lot to deal with. it can bring you down like a ton of bricks. now who wants to go through their day feeling bad and thinking the world is not good. not me, i know the world is a wonderful place. and i know that there are lot of good things going on and alot of good people doing them.
