Which Search Engine Would U Say the Best - Google.com or Altavista.com?

Last week one of my friend told me that
google is the best search engine of the world.Hoever, another friend of mine
said that altavista is much worth than google in its search facilities and mechanisms. So, what do U realy suggest better? In what parametrs that one is better than the other?
