Using cake mixes??? Do this for a large group.

Next time you use a cake mix, buy two different flavors. Bake each one in a round pan. Then freeze each one, wrap up tightly. When you have time another day, take them out of the freezer. Use dental floss or a sharp knife to cut them in half to form two rounds from each cake. Now you have four rounds. When you layer it, you will have two flavors, every other one. ex: choclate/white/chocalate/white. Frose inbetween and over whole cake.

that is a very good idea. I will try it. another secret with cake, take a plain box of cake mix take any kind if filling apple, peach
pineapple blue-berry, after you mix of cake take filling and put it over cake and bake it comes out perfect. I usually put 1/2 stick of butter in cake mix. flour and oil your pan as ususal. this is so good. my girl-friend gave me that reciepe. you don't even have to put icing on it. so as it get done let it cool and turn it over so the filling will be on top of cake, try it.

This is a wonderful idea and am so glad you shared it. Sometimes something done a little differently can make it special. Funny since hubby has a birthday today. This is a time saver also, this way you can have a dessert in the middle of the week if time is at a premium. Thanks again for sharing this today.

4 pieces may be high, so use your judgement on how many to use. Keep the rest frozen for another time. Happy Birthday to hubby for me please.

Oh what a great idea. I've been sitting here staring at this discussion now for 5 minutes. My mind is dreaming of cakes..lol I think I've come up with a good one to try for easter... I love strawberry lemonade..so How about a strawberry and lemon cake with lemon frosting....mmmmm I think I'm going to drool soon. I haven't been baking anything for a while as I am the only one that eats cake. Haha maybe I should make them in easy bake oven pans so I can freeze them for myself...lol They would be just the right size....hahaha
