Things you're not allowed to bring on board

While trying to get through customs at the airport recently, to board a plane..I was stopped by security because I have TWEEZERS in my toiletry bag. How about that? I know exactly the list of things that I'm not allowed to bring on board but tweezers? So I asked security "What do you think I'll do? Tweeze the pilot into submission?" and they let me bring it on board after that. *smirk* Has anyone else been stopped by security for bringing tweezers or other non dangerous items onboard a plane? Did you let them confiscate it or do you argue your way through?

"So I asked security "What do you think I'll do? Tweeze the pilot into submission?" and they let me bring it on board after that.*smirk*" *falls over giggling like crazy* OMG THAT IS PRICELESS!! LMFAO brilliant! on a serious note though, you'd be surprised at what can be used as a weapon and/or as a tool othr than what its intended for....

Thank you! *bows* I understand that airports are being cautious now and I'll bet some people can actually turn a tweezer into a weapon but for me, the only way I can terrorize the world with a tweezer (or the lack of) is with my unibrow frown, Saddam style. lol

Lmfao. Tweeze the pilot..as for the chainsaws, hatchets, meat cleavers..what the heck are the expecting?*raises an eyebrow* hollywood serial killers? Hm, or maybe just the bogeyman. Anyway, customs makes me hope that I'll never have to fly anyplace someday. But you know, there's actual weapons which can be put in a bag of clothes and they'd never notice? Like bokkens..Japanese practice swords -- some of them are sharp enough you could actually kill someone with them. So everyone's just being silly with the airport thing in my opinion..AND with the postal service. I'm not allowed to ship cookies to my grandma for christmas. It's ridiculous. I mean there are wiser ways to limit possibly insane people with weapons from getting on a plane. Like hiring a policemen in civilian clothes for instance (ha, partly solve the problemw with police who still need to be paid more). Or having some kind of service where you can submit your liquids to the airport to be checked early before you arrive so that you can bring them. I mean it'd still be a pain, but it'd be a better compromise instead of taking the knitting needles away from the elderly ladies and the nail files and tweezers from other folks. OR, maybe we should hire some semi insane pilots who'll threaten to crash the plane on purpose in a way that most of the people will survive (the key word being most) and so that the terrorist would have a chance of being caught. Maybe they're not truly crazy. But the only thing bad people seem afraid of is people who won't put up with their crap and are crazier than they are. Most of the time though we seem to be just succeeding in what they want us to do..even if in a small way, in the way we treat our people in the airport or who're mailing things. But whatever lol..I've kinda ranted enough I guess. My point was, people get silly when they get paranoid. Amusing at times too, but they get annoying after awhile.

you know, my brotherinlaw, has diabetes, and needs his shots on board. so during the check through, he forgot about his bag, and it went through the scanner without any problem.. its amazing how it was missed. when he walked through and noticed his bag already went ahead of him, he went over and told the security officer, because he didn't want any problems if it was discovered later, and they didn't even want to hear about it!!! were they embarrasssed that they missed it, or did they not want to be in trouble?? but its so funny that they take away your shampoo! whatever.. i think its a matter of which airport you to to.,, some are more secure than others.

You're right. I guess it really does depend on which airport you're at. It's amazing what you can get through the airports here in Malaysia but it's interesting how they can confiscate shampoo and toothpaste. It's all very aggravating!

i think tweezers shouldnt be an objectionable or dangerous LOL to carry. never posed such situation but i would ask them allow and if they dont allow just give it to the security and 'keep it i will collect it'.

I know! I got it back anyway. Over here, once you've passed something over to security, chances are you'll probably never get it back. Especially when you're out of the country already.
