there is a lot of factors that determine the number of children a couple will have, they include money, choice, health problems, but we have seen rich men that have just one or two children. also i think culture contributes to the number of children we will have in life. in africa, especially male children are consider more useful and inherits their fathers property, do couples that dont have one will keep having children hoping to get one. as for me i think at most 3 is ok.

I think everyone's idea of 'normal' is individual decision. I have 3 children living and I think that is enough for us. I do not plan to have more. However, I am my mother's only child and she didn't plan on ever having more than one.

In suth asian cultures like indian subcontinent, male child is given more importance. Many couples will go to great lengths to get a male child.I personally know of some couples who had 6-7 girls and even then they wanted to try for a baby boy.I am not particular about the gender of the child I am having.I have a daughter now, and I would not exchange her for a boy even if someone offered me the wealth of the whole world.I think upto 3 is ok too.I have two siblings myself and I don;t want my child to feel lonely that she did not have another sibling to share her feelings with. You are right, there are many things that dictate our choice for having more than one child.I think other factors are also catching up though, apart from culture. With women working full time, they have less time to tend to family, and economic conditions are also changing.Single parents often have to work hard, and I think that also determines the choice to have more than 1 child. As for me,I am open to more than 1.:)
