How Does Your ISP Rate?

I hate my ISP! After years of dial-up, wireless internet service finally came to the remote area of Michigan where I live. I expected the service to be a lot better than what I got. The satellite was installed, and we the adventure began.
Don't get me wrong, when it's working well it is quite a bit faster than the dial up. After having the wireless internet connection, I wouldn't want to switch back. The problem is that our internet service goes down very often. Even when it isn't down completely, we often have times when it moves so slow that you can't even load a web page.
Sadly enough, I think the most frequently called telephone number from our phone is the technical support number of our ISP. If that's not bad enough, every time you call them it seems that they talk down to you.
“Yes, I have already rebooted my router as if you told me to do the last fifty times I called you. Yes, I have pinged your name server and these are the ping times. I’m not having any problems loading your webpage, so obviously my equipment is working fine.”
When they run out of other things to say, they finally tell you that there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with your service so the problem must be on your end or that you will have to pay $85 for a service call to find out what the problem is.
Sorry about the rant, but I guess I have had one too many problems with them lately. Anyway, what I want to know is how your ISP rates? What kind of internet service do you have? Do you have problems with your internet service provider, or is it just me?

My ISP is pretty good. I had to deal with them because my internet was down for 2 days. The problem was Telstra's (Phone company) fault because something broke at the exchange, but Netspace, My ISP managed to get Telstra out here and working at the exchange within 2 days. (Anybody that can get Telstra to work that fast is my HERO!) They also kept in touch pretty regularly this morning which was comforting. Their tech support guys are mostly good sports too. They did have to walk me through the whole "routine" of doing this and that to the modem etc... But they must have a pretty easygoing setup over there (either that or they're all high...) because the guys i dealt with were really friendly and actually believed me and didn't sass me back when I told them that we'd tried 2 modems and neither worked. And actually (thank goodness) sounded like they were in a good mood. I can't stand calling somewhere like that and having a grouchy-butt to talk to. Anyway it got fixed this morning just in time to enjoy our upgrade to "Up to 8mbps" adsl" which speed tested at 6.2 megs. I am a happy camper (I almost typed I am a happy camera. I need to get some rest!) and overall I give Netspace a 9.5. The extra .5 is because one of the guys laughed at my jokes about gremlins and possessed modems.

Although I would not enjoy having 2 days of down time, I would love having friendly tech support people to talk to for a change. I wish I could give my ISP a good rating, but they just do not nearly live up to my expectations, especially for the amount they charge. The problem is that they really do not have much for competition so they can pretty much do what they want and get away with it.

I don't like my ISP very much.
My ISP is called "Libero" that in English means "Free", but it's not always true because in the afternoon, when the Internet traffic is very much, my ISP lowers the bandwidth of the users that use P2P software.
However I have a flat Internet connection, it is a 4 Mb ADSL, and it costs € 40 (about $35) per month, national telephone calls included.

Hughs Net is the provider in this area and they want over $100.00 a month for a connection. Sorry, I flat out refuse to pay that AND have to pay for service calls. I use my neighbors wireless signal and pay her $10.00 a month. It works great 90% of the time and when it doesn't I can't really complain because it lets me get stuff done around the house LOL.

I hate my ISP too. I have had so many bad experiences with them and have in fact posted about them quite a few times at myLot already. I really don't want to retype everything but suffice to say that their service s*cks. :P

My ISP sucks. You figure it out yourself or you live with the problem. It took us forever to get broadband, and since I was one of the first customers I have their biggest download allowance for a lot less money every month then the later subscribers. That's why I stay.

Ours has gotten worse as they added more customers. From what I understand it is a shared resource so the more customers they get, the less service bandwidth we have. If someone else is downloading a lot, I suppose that could be the reason why we can't load a webpage.
