Do you believe in baptism? And if so, a dunk or a sprinkle? I dont want to judge or disrespect anyone else's way of thinking or believing, but in the bible Acts 2:38 says, "and Peter replied repent and be baptized all of you in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of your sins and you will recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit." The word baptize comes from the Greek Word ßapt???, which means to be immersed, or submerged. And Jesus himself was immersed into the water, so where do the beliefs of sprinkling, or just asking Jesus into your heart come from?

I have been baptised by total immersion. The sprinkling of water comes from the greek Rantizo and has to do with the cleaning of the ritual utensils in the Temple. I'm not sure if baptism by immersion is necessary nowadays since we are all baptized in the Holy Spirit.

You are very right to say that the real meaning of baptism is to be immersed and not sprinlikng.....its today denomations that have come out with these different beliefs and are following the traditions that they have made themselfs, this is why I am against denominations because they don't do what is written in the bible but make the religion comfortable according to their living. This is just one thing that you have touched on if looking into there are many more things which will prove to you that the denominations are not walking excatly to the word of God.

I think this is an excellent question and am interested to read what others respond. For me personally, I believe in full immersion as set forth in the Bible. However, I do not believe it is essential to salvation.

I totally agree with you it is very important to be baptised with immersion not sprinkling. And yes it is the first step towards getting saved.

Not baptism as much as dedication. I had my son dedicated to God at 6 months old, which was a blessing of God but not baptized in any certain faith.
