My girlfriend is a finalist in a poetry contest. I think she does an excellent job writing. She usually gets 4.0 and going to get her masters degree from who knows where. She has been selected as a finalist in a poetry contest. Should she allow them to get the rights to her work? Please explain why.

Be careful, a lot of those poetry things are scams (i was scammed by them when i first started writing...they picked your poem as a winner but you had to pay them to buy the book that your poem was in...)

I'm glad to hear that you made it. She gets a lot of writer magazines and periodicals. It may be for one of those but she has to do a public reading. She drags me to all of them. A lot of the people who go are published authors. I've met some famous ones too however I don't remember their names. =S Its not my sort of thing to go to a poetry reading but I go for her and work on my sleeping with my eyes open trick. =)
