The older I get the more I tend to buy sensible things and less expensive clothes. One of the things that I loved most about getting married was the great excuse to get a facial and to get my nails done! I, a nail biter, felt like a million bucks with long beautiful nails! But they eventually fell off and now I can't get myself to spend the $$ on new treatments, seeing how much else, more useful things that I need to have! I would love a facial treatment again and new clothes but for now I have to wait!! When was the last time you got something expensive for yourself and what was it? How often do you go to a beauty salon?

Whenever i can afford to, which isn't very often! I tend to splurge on clothes, though i don't really buy expensive clothes becuase i'm not on that great a wage and have only just started working after years of being a student so have loaans and overdrafts to payu off that take up a lot of my wage. Buying even chepaer clothes feels like a treat to me though! I don't go to beauty salons, just to the hair dressers to get my hair cut every 6ish weeks and coloured every 12ish weeks. I tend to splurge on nice pampering products so i can pamper myself at home and have home manicures etc, i get better value that way!

I've got lots of student loans too and have been in uni for 5 years,, so I know what you are talking about. I get annoyed at my husband when he spends too much money om movies and pizza because I am so used to eating cheap food and never buying new clothes from being a student for a long time. So I have a hard time accepting his more spending lifestyle.

I tend not to splurge too much on stuff like clothes and facials, but I do spend far too much on holidays and travelling. As a younger person, I backpacked, and worked my way around the world, and loved every minute of it. Now, as I get older, my tastes are for more comfort (nice Hotels - not Hostels!), but I still get excited at the thought of packing my bags and going somewhere new for a week or so. So everytime I have a week off work (6 weeks leave a year in the UK), we tend to get my friend to stay in the house to care for the house and the cats, and go somewhere for a break. So I guess that is the way I splurge my cash - and I do it far too often!!!

Thats's great.. I love traveling too. Last year me and my husband spent too much on a trip to Morocco but it was amazing. And now it has taken us another year to save up for a trip to asia where we are going this summer. So yeah, I'm really looking forward. And memories are probably better than material things, but I wish I could have both ;)

I very rarely spend any money on me since my son has been born. I just don't seem to want as much stuff now as I did before I guess. Sadly, the biggest most expensive item I've bought myself since my son was born was probably my bread machine, which I love. But it probably doesn't really count as something for ME since my whole family enjoys fresh bread. Other than that it was probably a pair of shoes. I need new ones now, though. So probably when I'm home in June I will buy new shoes and that will be my most expensive item for a while. I don't ever go to a beauty salon anymore. I hate the way that most people cut my hair, and I like to do my nails myself. I actually haven't had a haircut for almost a year. I'm waiting until June to get it cut again, so that my best friend from back home can cut it. She's one of the few people I've ever had cut my hair, that actually cuts it right. I'm really picky about the way my hair is cut because it's so fine and grows in several different directions in back. I'm a stylist myself, so I know exactly how I want it to look. I've paid $50+ for haircuts that were terrible. I know my best friend from cosmetology school can cut it right for free. So I'll just wait around.

Thats great that you have a friend who can cut it for free! I'm stingy too when it comes to haircuts, mainly because for the first time in my life I managed to grow my hair long so I'm supercareful. So it's a good idea to wait around.
