Does your church host a Seder meal during Easter?

I am amazed at my many Christian friends who have never attended a Seder meal at their church during the Easter holiday. I am attending a different church this year and was very excited to see that they are offering a Seder meal for those interested. This is a first time event for this church! My old church (Methodist) has always had a Seder meal for its members and I have attended many times in the past. For those who are unfamiliar with this practice, it is a meal that allows us to reflect on the last supper as Jesus shared his final moments with His diciples. Foods traditionally served are unleavened bread, fruit, cheese, celery or parsley, etc. Each of these foods have a specific meaning and go along with a scripture in the bible. The ones I have attended also included a demonstration of a foot washing or a short skit about Christ's last evening before the events leading up to his death. If you have attended such an event, tell us about your experiences! For those who have never attended, I would encourage you to see if your church is hosting a seder meal. It is a wonderful experience and will hopefully enhance your spiritual walk this Easter.

I'm glad you explained what a Serer meal is. I've never been to one, or well, obviously, heard of it. Our church that we attend doesn't serve this meal. They do however, have potluck dinners once a month. :) The Serder meal sounds like a great experience. We may have to look around and see if we can find a service like that.

Hey! Church potlucks are always a good time! I think you would really enjoy attending a Seder meal just for the experience. It really is interesting. Thanks for the response!

This is very interesting information. I have been to MANY Christian churches over the years and have never even heard of Seder. It sounds like a celebration that Christians would be very much a part of. I am surprised I have never heard of or seen anything about it. If I get the chance to experience this at one of my local churches I will certainly attend. Thanks for sharing.

I have been to a few different ones. They each had their own unique style, but it was always a good experience.

I've never before heard of a Christian church having a Seder meal, or at least one that was called that. I've known plenty of Jewish people who have Seders as part of Passover, but don't know of any combining of the two traditions at a Christian church.

Now you have me wondering how many Christian churches actually do this. I may have to do some research just to satisfy my curiousity.

How interesting! I have never been to a Seder meal or even heard of a Seder meal. I will most definitely look for one in my area. What a wonderful activity for Holy Week.
