I was just having a discussions about some tacky figurines on another forum and it got me wondering about what everyone has on their mantle piece/fire place? Do you have it crammed full on vases, figurines, ornaments, photos, etc, is it nealy or completely bare, do you keep a clock on there, maybe you've had a birthday recently and there are crds on there?
All we have is a pair of matching cobalt blue painted glass vases, a pair of matt silver candle holder with cobalt blue candles in them and a black clock. That's it, i really prefer it to be uncluttered!

We don't have a fireplace in the house we live in at present, but in my previous house, I had my grandmothers old clock and a pair of matching candles at either end. Oh not forgetting a box of matches hiding behind the clock, ready to start the fire or candles!.
I can't stand to have the mantleplace cluttered, it makes it really hard to clean!!

We don't have a mantel above our firepalce but we have built in bookshelves on either side that are filled with books, pictures and allmy crystal vases. Above our fireplace we hung a 1700's version of a map of the world that my grandfather (a college professor) had hanging above his fireplace in his den before he passed away. He bought it in 1954 with his first teaching check, and it holds a lot of sentimental value to me.
