Are Police that commit crimes afforded more leniency in their sentences?

I can remember, a few years back, when an off duty Policeman hit and killed a pregnant woman and her two children while crossing a street in Brooklyn. He started drinking on precinct property and contimued to do so at a bar/strip joint that was supposed to be off limits to Police. He was sentenced to only three years in prison! Personally, I don't think that was enough time.Police are supposed to represent the law and when they break it, as this man grossly did, they should be held more accountable for their actions! What do ya'll think. Do the Police get less time in prison, even if they commit murder in one form or another? Do you agree with a lighter sentence for them?

A few years back I remember reading the same thing, but I think today they are pretty much sentenced just like me and you would be..I know in minnesota they have camera's on the cars now so they can monitor the arrests etc. so this is helping some and I think that a couple that have committed driving crimes have gotten the same sentence..I know one here just recently lost his job for dui 3rd offense which normally back a couple of years ago they would of never lost there job.

I wonder if the cameras aren't more for the protection of the Officer, which sometimes, they do need. Hopefully, that Officer lost his driver's license also!
