I am 26 and I don't live with my parents any more. I have my own job, money, house... my own life, but still my parents want to control my life. They want to know what I eat, where I am going, what time I wake up in the morning etc. Is that something usual or it is happening only to me? Why parents think that they children need them for their whole life? What should I do to stop this?

Are you male or female? I think that sometimes parents of daughters really like to keep tabs on her - even when she is an adult - because of all the bad things that can happen to her. Also, do you live far from your parents? Could that be contributing to their constantly wanting to know what's going on with you? I'm sure it can be very frustrating to you, so maybe you should tell your parents how you feel. Let them know you love them for being concerned about you, but that you're doing pretty good on your own now. Assure them that if anything major comes up that you will share it with them, etc. etc. Best of luck to you!! GACathyMac

I am a girl and the only child, so I think that maybe this is a reason. Also I live very far from them - in an other country. The fact that I moved abroad is something they cannot affoard.

I think your parents love you and care about you. They are asking these questions because they want to make sure that you are looking after yourself ok. Try to reassure them that you are living a good healthy lifestyle and that you are happy and eventually the questions will stop.
