Tim Hardaway's Second Chance

It was about a month ago when Tim Hardaway, formerly of the Miami Heat, made that "toxic" comment: "I hate gay people." That comment was in response to a question about how would he "deal with a gay teammate."Now he wants to clean up his image. He wants a second chance. He reasoned that he's an upstanding citizen, haven't been in trouble with drugs nor guns, and wants people to believe him when he says he does not hate gay people.
Some say the problem was just that Tim wasn't good with words. He could have just expressed himself using other words, not the very-straightforward "I hate gay people" comment he's now known for.
How about you? Would you give Tim a second chance?

well for me, everybody deserves a second chance.. maybe those were the only words in his mind but he doesn't want it to be that drastic, you know.. and as for gay people, i love gay people myself.. my bestfriends are gay, i have a group of friends that are gay.. i respect them and i admire them.. i love them so much.. they are kind people.. i know that even if Tim Hardaway gave off these "extreme" words, they can give him a second chance.. for the record, i'm not gay, OK? ;p

I think Tim Hardaway just said what he felt, and that his only mistake was to say it out loud for the whole world to hear. He's a celebrity and if he's keen on keeping a "clean" image for himself, he should know better than not being careful with his words, especially when talking about a topic where people might get offended.
