The big question! Is Severus Snape still loyal to Albus Dumbledore and the Order of the Phenix? Or is he really a death eater? I have read all the books several times, and i've also seen some quite interesting opinions on the subject while surfing the net. But still, I can't make an opinion about it. Some say that Snape is a true death eater and that he is loyal to Voldemort. After all, he is a dark magic fanatic, JK Rowling never hid that. He hates Harry Potter more than anything else, and he dispises most of the Order of the Phenix members. And most of all, he killed Dumbledore in tome 6. On the other hand, some say that he is still loyal to Dumbledore. Even thought he killed him. There are many intreging facts in the books which could lead us to believe so. The most important one is when Hagrid says that he herd Dumbledore and Snape arguing, in tome 6. Snape said he wouldn't do "that". We might conclude that Dumbledore asked him to kill him. Otherwise Voldemort would have known that Snape was loyal to Dumbledore... How about you? What is your opinion on the subject?

I think Snape is against Dombeledore and is helping Voldemort. I mean even in the first book Snape was against Harry. I think him and Voldemort have something for Harry in the last book. I am almost scared to read it. Although I have already pre ordered the last book.

While I personally believe that Snape is good, I have read some very good arguments about him being evil, and him only caring about himself. If you go on mugglenet.com, they have a whole section devoted to book 7, and editorials on whether or not Snape is evil. They definitely make you think.

one thing that I noticed that they didn't mention there, that I've heard before is that the two words used to describe the look on Snape's face (hatred and revulsion) are the same exact words used to describe what Harry is feeling towards himself when he is forcing Dumbledore to drink the potion. JKR is very aware, and there is no way she would just coincidentally use the exact words. I believe that's very telling.

It's remarquable how the smallest details can mean so much! But I totally agree with you. Those 2 words hide some mystery, I think...

Thanks for answering, Shaun! I'm scared to read it too! I know a lot of people close to Harry will die in that book, and I can't help being scared. Still, I'm sure I'll read it as soon as it hit's the market lol

I like Snape, althought I wouldn't like to have him as a teacher lol Still I have some difficulties to be as confident as you are on the "Dumbledore trusts him, I trust him" part. Many times in the book, Dumbledore says that he like everyone else, can make mistakes. I am willig to believe Snape is good, but for other reasons... But anyway, thansk for your answer!

In my opinion, Snape aint loyal to either Dumbledore or Voldemort. I just think that he works for himself. He do what he thinks is right, not because he's ordered by Dumbledore or Voldemort. Well, don't know. Just my thought.

It's an interesting opinion. And it ocould also explain a lot of things. Many times in the books we have hesitated wondered on which side Snape was, but still, we don't know for sure yet. It could be, like you said, that he just does what he wants, enjoying the fact that he can be on either one of the sides... Thanks for sharing your opinion!
