Just out of interest, which came 1st. The wall movie or the wall as an album. Is the album the soundtrack to the movie?

The album was released in 1979 and the film in 1982 (as mentioned earlier). However, a film was planned well before the release of the album, based on the stage show (in which a wall was erected between the band and the audience, much like the Live in Berlin performance of 1990). The original concept of the film was to be live footage from the album's tour with animation and extra scenes. The screenplay for the film was written by Roger Waters, who did not leave Pink Floyd until 1985 (although the fallout between Waters and Gilmour started during filming of the movie). As an interesting bit of trivia, when Bob Geldof was initially asked to star in the film (while travelling by car) he refused, saying it was 'a load of crap and raw bloody rubbish'. The man driving the car was Waters' brother John.

There is also "The Wall, live in Berlin" DVD, recorded in 1990, a year after the Berlin Wall came down. A great and different concert, and if you haven't seen it, well worth a look.

Hello. I don't know about this. But in August 1994, I attended their "Pulse" concert in Basle, Switzerland. I tell you, when you are in the middle of 50'000 people and all are singing "Teacher, leave us kid's alone", you get goose pimples as high as Mount Everest. At least, I did.
