Phuket beaches

I'm heading there in early May, yes I know its monsoon season but that's the only convenient time I could take vacation off work. Anyway just wondering if any of you know which beach is better for swimming? I'll be staying at Patong Beach but I heard its not as clean as the other beaches. HELP!
