What do you feel when someone insulted your religion and your beliefs?

I once dropped in a site where a thread of discussions is being made. I found things that are expressing their beliefs and religion with their fellows and also found persons with different beliefs that are insulting and judging others saying annoying things to against others belief. I feel very sorry to this people saying that they believe in what the bible say but not noticing what they are saying to other people which I think may hurt. Did the bible say that you have to hurt others in defending your beliefs? Do they have to do that saying that the faith is a cult, a fake and worst of all is a demonized faith? Are they sure that what they belive will be an assurance of redemption for them? Well what can you say with this kind of people saying that they have the right religion that are based on bible but judging others by saying unclean words to others? Warning, I am not starting a debate here, I just want your opinion on this, thank you.

I am an atheist, but even I get offended when other people insult people's beliefes. I think that it's every person's right to believe in what they want to believe in. If I don't believe in it, it is not my place to tell you you are wrong.

Yes you are right it is their right to believe what they want to believe but I don't think that they have the right to insult anybody. They can tell me that I am wrong but insulting me or my beliefs is unacceptable. Well maybe what I can do is just ignore them for it is their loophole from what they believe. Those people who say that they are right but not doing what they are talking is someone who is...never mind. Thanks for the response.

This is exactly why I try to be respectful when expression my opinions and beliefs. Many from both the theistic and atheistic sides can be explicit in their fervent declarations of opinion. It is difficult at times to not come across as if you are putting down someone when your views are so very different. Draven the Respectful Atheist http://dravenwriter.blogspot.com

People need to respect not only other peoples right to speak but their beliefs as well. Everyone has a right to an opinion just as they have the right to not have other peoples opinions forced upon them. If you cannot agree then respectfully disagree and let it be. As the saying goes you can agree to disagree which is of course an oxy moron but it is apt. It is good to have varied viewpoints since someone seeking a different answer will sometimes be the creator of something great and wonderful.
