Cat nip is actually a natural mint plant that you can grow yourself... not only are cats crazy about it, but it is also used medicinally by people. You can dry the leaves and flowers to preserve the oil that is inside - and then make your cat a play toy - or make an infusion from it and drink for all sorts of health promotion.

i didn't know you could make it too. my toothbrush has mint on it, no wonder i have to hide it from her or she will steal it.

oh how funny, I have heard someone else mention they had to hide their toothbrush from their cat! I guess it is the essential mint oils that drive them nuts, they love the smell of it and it gives them a bit of a "high" Rodents also like mint. We had a bag filled with small toothpastes in the garage - that some rodent got into and half the tubes were bit into, opened up and the toothpaste removed (eaten?)

i have a candy bowl and she is always getting the peppermint out of there too i didn't realize she was doing it till the other day when i cleaned up the spare bedroom
