Well, a lot of people don't seem to understand the difference among the 3, so i thought i might clear it up for you and maybe offer some explination so you can have a more open-minded look at it all. A transgender is someone who was born with the body parts of one gender, but the mind of another. For example, someone is born with all male external parts, but their mind is that of a female. There are even doccumented meducal cases where a person was born with external parts of one gender and the internal parts of the opposite gender. A transexual is someone who has gone through gender reassignment surgery. That means if they have female parts, their breasts are removed and their genitals are changed to be that of male. If they were born with male parts, their male genitals are reassigned to femals parts and they are given breasts. They also generally take the hormones of the gender they wish to be. A transvestite just means the person of one gender dressing as the opposite gender. They may or may not actually be transgender. Why do i type all this, you ask? Well, there are a few reasons. First off, i am sick of people mixing up terms and acting as if they know what they are talking about. They just come across as ignorant. Secondly, i want to give you more of an outlook on this subject. These people are not "mental." They were simply given the wrong body and it is not their fault. Keep in mind they are confused and hurting and they need the support of friends and family. i know that for some people it is hard to accept transgender, transsexuals, and transvestites. However, this makes no sense to me. They are people. They breathe the same air the rest of the population does. If you cut them, they bleed just like everyone else. They laugh, they love, they hurt, they cry. Why can't so many peole acept them for who they are?

*applauds* ++ rated I've gotten tired of some of the posts people've made recently. About basically everyone who's different in any way. My mother can be a bit iffy on this subject too. But I mostly admire trans people. I mean it takes alot of courage to even admit what you are, if you differ from what most people consider as 'normal'. But I agree, they bleed, they care, they think..they can be beautiful as a person too.. I never understood why people condemned any group of people. Especially since the wise man knows you can't say any group of ANYTHING or ANYBODY's this or that. Just like not all criminals are pure evil..or all people belonging to the Church are saints. It's just unfair to generalize everyone, regardless.

EXACTLY! Thank you for saying all that. People needs to realize you can't generalize everyone in any particular group. It's just not correct on any way.

I sometimes wonder if we are actually in the 21st century or stuck in a time warp, because if you are different even in today's society you are outcast and ostracized, people will actually cross the road if they see someone who doesn't conform or to them are 'odd' People fear what they don't understand and rather than understand it is far easier to mock, sneer or ostracize! As if there isn't enough hatred. They are still people, an individual and like any other individual should be free to express or be the way they want to be. Life is too short, get over it!

No effing kidding! People need to lear to accept those that are different from them. It makes me sick that still in this day and age, people are so judgemental and unaccepting.
