We all know how badly St. Anger was received, but what kind of hopes (or doubts) do you guys have about the upcoming album (they're recording right now)? If you haven't heard the two new songs they've been playing live, go to Youtube or some other video service and search for "metallica new song" and "metallica other new song" and check 'em out. Yes, "New Song" and "Other New Song" are what they're being referred to for now (last I heard, anyway). I think that "New Song" starts off very strongly (nice 'n' heavy), but then I'm not so sure about it. "Other New Song" on the other hand, I didn't really care for when I first heard it for some reason, but I really like it now, although it too is a departure from the expected "Metallica" sound. What do you guys think about this? Do you think a single or an EP will be released in the meantime?

Yeah, I'm a huge fan. They're my favorite band of all time and were my introduction to Metal. I hope they release something soon, even if it's only an EP or something. Maybe they could do some more cover songs as well, like they did in Garage Inc. I don't know, I just want more Metallica!

well st. anger didnt recieve very good responses from the fans and didnt did very well commercially either..i think it is because they are trying to do something new in order to incoperate into the modern rock scene..i think they should maintain their original identity that was won them fans for so many years and if they do it in their new album too it doesnt matter hoew st. anger did...but accod to me it is very hard for them now after so many years to come up with same stuff...as a hardcore metallica fan i wish they do come up with something great...and ill listen to their new song...

I heard that St. Anger was intended to be a return to their thrash metal roots, unlike Load and Reload, but it just wasn't good. Their new stuff so far doesn't sound much like their older music, but at the same time it's not bad either. It kinda reminds me of Load and Reload in the sense that although you might like some songs on there a lot, it just doesn't compare to their old stuff.

I'm subscribed to it too. I've heard that it may come out late this summer, but I'd bet on a fall release, especially since they keep touring in random countries. They started recording on March 12 and they're already "sick of the studio," lol. But hey, if that's what they want to do to relieve stress and it allows them to concentrate more fully on making a great album, then by all means, get out of the studio. I can wait a little longer if it means an overall better album.

Oh, by the way. . .have you heard those 2 new songs? Here are a couple of links. METALLICA'S "NEW SONG:" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwsbUUEOT9g METALLICA'S "OTHER NEW SONG:" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNMzWCOEFfU And finally, one you might not have heard yet, someone (they're not named in the link I found) does a cover of Metallica's first New Song and records it in their own studio, so it's very good quality. I'm not real fond of the vocals, but I bet the music will sound pretty close to this when the actual studio version is finally released. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pS5rODQ2ao
