The quality of the posts include all those you mentioned, and what is most important is you are actually replying to the discussions and related to that topic, and you earn positive rating in that reply. Mylot guidlines say that the reply should be of more than 5 sentences.

While I think that the length of the discussion and the responses has a lot to do with it I think that it's equally important to make it clear what your trying to say. What I mean is that I see a lot of discussions that seem good however the person doesn't clearly state what they are looking for in the way of a response. Their is no question, nor do you relate, do you agree or disagree, what are your thoughts, etc. It's very important I think when starting a discussion to end it with what you want from the people that respond. I would completely stay away from starting discussions that only have 1 or 2 lines and the same for responses. I generally don't respond with anything less than 5 or more lines and more often than not I leave several paragraphs. Those are the discussions that I like best, the ones that I can leave lengthly responses. While punctuation and spelling are important it's fair to say that many do understand that English is not everyone's first language and should be taken into consideration. My answer to that is to not be in a hurry to post the response or the discussion but take a few minutes to read it over a few times to make sure that it makes sense and that you have corrected as much as possible. Stay away from posting in text spelling if at all possible. Hope this helps to clarify some of your questions. :)

Of course people should do their best to make their discussions and responses as correct as they can, but since not everyone here speaks fluent english that can be tough. Quality is more about the topic...meaning a quality discussion has some meaning to it, other than, "what is your favorite color", "coke vs. pepsi", "what day were you born"... A quality discussion can't be answered with just a yes or no answer or a pick one answer. You should be able to write at least 3-4 sentances describing your discussion and the same goes for making a quality response. Your response should always have to deal with the topic of the discussion. I hope this helps you out.

It's everything, my friend. The language, the content, the effort, everything. Keep experimenting. ;-)

Basically what you are aiming for is a well structured answer that is very clear and that is easy for everyone to understand. Good grammer and spelling is another key. Mostly just make you answers to people relevant to the discussion. Hope that helps you understand a little more.
