OK, I have a problem with neighbors BBQing all the time and smoking me out!

Now I always have to close my windows, even when I'm not home because they do this about every other nite and I'm telling you the smoke is really bad. They use a hibatchi with that cheap lighter fluid and I'm telling you the wind blows the smoke right through my window. I don't want them to smoke out the whole place while I'm not home, so I close the windows and can't even leave them cracked. I have an idea. I was going to put a smoke alarm near the one window and leave the window cracked so it will go off every time they BBQ and embarrass the heck out of them, good idea or not? I've noticed they're the only ones in the building that do this kind of thing on their patio, we have BBQ pits that they can walk over to and BBQ, they don't need to smoke me out. Any better ideas? The summer is coming and I like to open my windows!

Have you thought about what would happen if the smoke detector goes off when your not at home? Would someone call 911, would they bust your door down to get in? If your neighbors are aware of this health concern contact Management. A solution is possible without further aggrevation. Take care Jasmine99.

I hope this turns out well for you! I know i couldn't stand to have my windows closed because of selfish neighbors. I'd be planning something nasty! LOL! Take care Jasmine.

I think the smoke alarm idea is a really good one. I hate it when my neighbours have bbq's. The smell of meat cooking is really horrible to me so to smell it outside, on my washing, coming in through the windows etc is really bad and there is nothing I can do about it.

I cannot stand the smell either, especially now that summer is coming and we like to open our windows. And the smell comes right through even with your windows closed. So I might try the smoke alarm idea, but only when I am home.
