I think you should just invite all your friends and family around to you place or someone who has a nice big backyard that are willing to hold a party for you, invite all the people you are about and put on the best party you can or even a BBQ and thank all these people for helping you get there....

I like this one...a BBQ would be lovely except that I live in NYC and it is cold and usually snowy during my birth month. Perhaps I can postpone getting older and hold off til at least spring and have that BBQ! LOL!!! But I love your sentiment...thanking all of the wonderful friends and family that I have for helping me get to the halfway mark! Thanks for your wonderful response...take care...

Jan 2008 is ready to barge in and let me wish you a very happy and memorable 50th birthday.By now you must have made up your mind as to how you're going to celebrate it.You can begin the day by thanking God(which I'm sure you're going to do). Then you could give something for charity.Since its jan so you should be celebrating indoors in the evening. You can get the opening four lines of your favourite sings recorded to be played during the party and can dress up the same way you did thirty years back.

I don't know if it financially possible, but have you thought about renting out a big room that a lot of restaurants have for special occasions? You could eat, have cake, and be as rowdy as you want. Also, how about a balloon ride? Depending on the size of the basket, several people can go up at one time. I would love to do it. My friends have been and the pictures they brough back are amazing. One is even afraid of heights, but he said he is glad he did it. Whatever you do, have a wonderful birthday and God bless you!

Hi there, well, I don't think that it would be that hard to rent a space for a party. I like that idea. I won't need that much space, just enough for my family and friends. It would be nice to be with them all for the big 50! Now the hot air balloon, I have seen them and I would love to ride in one, but I am a chicken. I just think of it not being controllable and drifting off to God knows where. I took a helicopter ride once, and that was great. Maybe I'll get up the nerve to try the balloon next year. Thanks for a great response and the good ideas...Take care! And thank you for your blessing and birthday wish!

My sister turns 50 in November and her friend is taking her on a cruise! Maybe you can do that? I think that sounds pretty cool, better than me, I just slunk around the house on the day, but went to a birthday party the week before - shared it with my roomie who's birthday is 9 days before mine - but she's got a few more yrs before she hits 50.

Thanks for responding! Well, I hope that your sister has a wonderful time on her cruise. That is so nice, send her my congrats. I would love to go on a cruise but all my friends and family would not be able to attend. I hope that perhaps you do something nice for yourself on your next birthday to make up for the last one. Take care of yourself and I hope your next one is a blast! Have fun!

You could rent a big limo, go out do dinner at a nice restaurant and then take in one of those wonderful Broadway shows in Manhattan. Or, since it will be January, get a big hotel suite in Manhattan, near Central Park or Times Square and have a big ol' party. Or, find a nice Blues Club or Comedy Club and go have some fun there. Enjoy it, no matter what you decide to do.

Wow! I love the idea of a limo. The picture is a Jaguar XJ Limo. I do love Jaguars. Well, you made me think of seeing a snowy Central Park from a hotel suite. I really like that idea. All of your ideas are great and I thank you for sending them. Comedy clubs sound good too, what better way to bring in your 50th. birthday, laughter is the best medicine they say. Thank you for responding, take care...

I guess you're asking the wrong person to look to me for advice, everyone told me life begins at 50. I had already quit smoking by that time and I've never been a drinker, so I thought I was ready for this wonderful life. I had a heart attack February 16 2001 and I had just turned 50 on Dec. 02. So about all I can say is make sure your blood pressure is normal and LOOK AFTER YOURSELF !!!

Hi Grandmaof2, how are you? Hope you are feeling ok these days. Thanks for responding. I remember hearing you talk about having a heart attack. I hear so often of people quitting habits like smoking, then they get sick. I hope that you get better as time goes by. I will take care of myself and my pressure is doing fine now. Thank you...take care...
