As I have observed here in our internet cafe, some of our Hard disk have been replaced recently. I don't know what happen to it. But I have suspicion that it might be the reformatting.

Ahh, reformatting. I hate it. Don't do it unless you have to. It wipes out everything you have, although there are ways of saving info. It's a lot of work too, setting it all up again. Sometimes though, yoiu have no choice. If there are too many errors or too many viuses, you may have no choice but to reformat. But if you asre not doing the reformatting in your internet cafe, who is? That's weird.

Actually we have a technician, so he will be the one to reformat the hard disk in our cafe. Moreover, He will be useless if I will be the one who will reformat the hard disk.

Reformating is the best thing you can do! I do it every 3 months too! Reformating has nothing to do with harddrive failure, they must have been bad harddrives to begin with. (dont always trust bundle deal computers like the ones they sell u in stores. Ever WONDER why its so cheap? AH HA!!) Needless to say! reformating your computer is an excellent way to clean ur comp and make it run supreme! I know! I've been working with computers for 12 years now as an graphic illustor/animator, website designer, programmer/and network technician! HAHAHAHA I know what Im talking about, if ur harddrive crashed it was because it had bad sectors from an early start.

No... formatting cannot cause anything to your hdd. Its something else that you should me looking at..... Formatting just does what read/write will do on the disk surface.... But repartitioning again again can cause your hdd to make problems.....

No, I don't think so and there is no need to reformat your pc frequently, it would do harm to your hard disk when this done with high frequences. If there is something wrong with your computer, you may only format a particular partition of your hard disk, which your operating system is installed, there is no need to have a complete format with your whole hard disk.

im quite confident that reformating your drive that often will not cause it to fail. but like the others said repartitioning it too many times may cause a failure. as for the partition, for best performance try to limit it to two partions or maybe three, more or less will result in performance degradation. hope this helps

I think that the reformat is necessary when your pc has software problems (virus that destroy system files or driver that be cause problems). It is very important the defragmentation for life of the hdd. I defragment my hdds every 2 weeks.

really? I don't defrag my hard disk not even once. I'm not very sure what is the real function of defragmentation that's why I'm not into it.
