Light Sensitivity

Does anyone have a problem with light sensitivity? My eyes are extremely sensitive to the light. So much so that I spend much of my time sitting in a darkened room, and when I must go out into the light I usually have to wear dark glasses or a hat to shield my eyes from the light.
It has been a standing joke for years that I am a vampire, but to me it isn't a laughing matter because the light causes me severe pain. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, how do you deal with it?

Ever since I stopped wearing my contacts lenses all the time, my eyes have been less sensitive but that doesn't mean that I ever leave the house without my shades.
I have always had sensitive eyes but after I had a couple of very nasty eye infections, they seemed to get ultra sensitive to the point where I was wearing shades even on overcast days.
Most of the time I just 'deal with it', my doc said that it's "just my body" ... when you are forking out $70.00 for an office visit you sort of hope to get a little more info than that.

A friend of mine told me that I should get contacts and that might help me because I have such a problem with glare from my glasses. I don't know if that would make any difference but either way, any amount of light at all hurts my eyes and can trigger a migraine. My doctor told me pretty much the same thing. Some people just are just more sensitive to light than others. Lucky me I guess.

I actually prefer a dark room too always have but I can't say it hurts me in any way. I do need to wear sunglasses when out in the bright sunlight or I get a headache probably because I squint so badly. A hat just isn't an option, I hate a hat so bad. I'm a weird duck I guess but I hate socks and a hat. LOL

Thanks for your response. I hate socks too and rarely wear them during the summer. I wear them during the winter if my feet get cold though. Sometimes I have to wear a hat just so I can pull it down over my eyes if the light gets too bright for me. I suffer from severe migraines and the light exposure aggravates them.
