How safe is online business

Lately, i have been visiting many online job websites. They seem promising and real, but I doubt how could they be so real. I decided to log on with one of them, but one of my fried suggested me that it's dangerous to get online job coz they ask for our credit card no. and bank details and they make us work and also take our money and in actual there will be no money from them. Do you have any idea of online jobs like data entry, paid surverys ? And if you have any experience regarding it pls do feel free to let me know.
