Parents, do you get abused by your kids?

Sadly, I know of some people who have to put up with physical and verbal abuse from their young kids and teenagers. Basically, these kids ask for things from their parents and when they refuse them, the kids then turn violent and hit and verbally abuse their own parents. I think that's appalling. I guess kids are getting more violent thanks to the pervasive violent video/computer games and violent movie culture these days. Why do you suppose that these kids are behaving this way? Do you know of other parents who are in these circumstances and how did they deal with the situation? How do you think parents in such a situation could cope with this?

My 18 year old daughter has been physically and verbally abusive towards me. The fact that she has Bi-polar doesn't help. I am having a very hard time dealing with her. My husband and I had to send her to her paternal Grandparents who she happens to get along with a lot better. I hope she turns her pathetic attitude around real soon.

Children have an altogether different psychology levels and they react differently to our actions. This is also due to the fact that the growth in their brain is not like ours. We have to get ourselves down to their level in satisfying them and go on with our business!!! No other way out.

kids don't try to take things the way we grown ups do because they are unaware of the happenings of the world around. The only way to sort this out is by talking to them in their language...which means little more love and also getting down to their level. An effort made toward knowing the root cause for such a behavior may also help.
