How can I add the subtitles to episodes so I can burn them together to a disk?

I know how to add subtitles to episodes with VLC to watch them on the computer, but how can I add the subtitles to episodes so I can burn them together to a disk and have them enabled on the DVD player? I think there is a way to select burn VCD and add the subtitles but I don't think I can fit two episodes on a disk that way. Right now, I just select burn data disk and put the episodes on the CD and watch them on the DVD player but I'm not sure how to add the subtitles. Can anybody please help me?
