Bittorrent runs extremely slow

When I use Bittorrent it runs extremely slow. Does anyone know how to speed it up? It takes me about 3 days to download about 600mb, over a week once when I tried to download about 5 gig. I've never seen it go more than 20kb/s. Are there other torrent programs out there that go faster or some settings I can change to yeild better results?

It could be your ISP blocking your bittorrent, because they know it is mostly used for illegal downloads of copyrighted material.

The only way is better connection and computer speed and this is on both ends. It would probably not be worth your time to only fix your end.
