I went to Lynchburg for class last week. While I was there I got lost 3 diferent times. Once I ended up on the road to Appomatox and the Appomattox courthouse. If you know American Civil war history, this is where the final treaty was signed to end the war. Actually the treaty was signed in a family's house. When I made it to Apomattox courthouse it was a cold and rainy day so I thought that it was a perfect day to be there. I am sure that the South had that opinion on the day the treaty was signed. I spent 2 to 3 hours wandering around in the various buildings of the old township. I had never flown or been in the mountains before last week so it was a very interesting trip. I will be trying to add pictures and more stories about the trip soon.

I will try to get the pictures on my computer tonight. I had a busier weekend than I was expecting and didn't get much done.

I live about 20 minutes south of Appomattox, there is way more to see if you go just outside of town a bit! Next time you come send me a message! I'll let you know where the really interesting places are!
My hubby and I take the girls hiking and out visiting places. They are too young yet to understand the stories behind them but they have fun!
(The "museum" in my town is smaller than a one car garage!)

Glad you enjoyed your trip to Lynchburg. I am from Nebrasks too. The thing that I have found about living here in the east is that the roads meander around a lot and it is easy to get lost. The roads back there in nebraska and most of the states out there are put in squares. If you miss a turn you and go around the mile line and end up back where you started from, but you can't do that out here. I love flying as the ground is so interesting. I'm looking foreward to your pictures.

Yeah I noticed that there didn't seem to be a straight road to anywhere in Lynchburg. Even the Highways meander all over the place. I am used to haveing straight one mile tracts as you said and that threw me off a bit. I will have to do more traveling when i go back in July for my Group Processes class.

I am a big history buff. I love all kinds of historical places as well. My next trip to Lynchburg I hope to see more of the places close by.
