Last night my husband and I went to see Weird Al, and, although he was good the way the night was run was pathetic.
When we first went in they said there would be an intermission of 20 minutes. They started about 5 minutes late and the support act was ok, but included some stuff that has been around for years. She talked for about 15 minutes and then the lights went on. I went to get a drink but most people stayed in their seats. I heard the staff outside wondering why people weren't getting up and I said that no announcement had been made and their response was that people should know that the lights going on means it is intermission. But really who expects an intermission after a 15 minute performance by a support act?
Then we sit there and we sit there and we sit there and nothing happens. Half an hour passes, nothing is said so people start getting up, only now they have closed all of the places where you can get food or drinks because the intermission is over. Then we sit there some more, nothing is said and people are really getting annoyed. Finally an hour later an announcement is made that they are having technical problems (no really??? I never would have guessed), but no indication is given as to when we can expect the show to start. Finally they got that section of the show started about 9.45.
One thing that also annoyed me is when he did come on they started straight into the music, it wasn't until he had performed 4 songs that he finally said thanks for your patience.
