Is there a word or phrase people say, that you are so tired of hearing?

After President George W. Bush used the phrase 'make no mistake,' everyone started using that phrase. It was everywhere. I don't mind that phrase as much as I mind someone continually saying, 'you know.' However, what drives my mom crazy is 'at the end of the day.' 'Good grief' used to drive her crazy too. So what are some words or phrases that just drive you nuts when you constantly hear them?

LOL, I agree. I really don't know why the media has to combine names for couples. It doesn't make them any more appealing, it just saves them from printing whole names. And I'm so happy to hear I'm not the only one tired of hearing 'pimp.'

The phrase that really irks me is "and what not". What the heck does that mean? "what not?" It's especially bad when it's a formal speech for school or business and the speaker uses the word. It makes me cringe.

I was talking to a lady the other day who put "air quotes" around just about every other phrase that she used. That would be annoying enough in and of itself, but I kept thinking to myself: Doesn't she know that those went out in the 90s?

Every speech class should make sure people know not to use those air quotes. My mom teaches English and what drives her crazy is that college kids use air quotes a whole lot. But it's hard for them not to, a lot of people still do it on TV!

My daughter has come up with a new one that is driving me out of my mind because she says it ALL the time: "That is just so awkward." Or she will say "and such" or "and what-not". They rate right up there in annoyance along with "you know"!! LOL

We knew a guy who was constantly saying "I resent that" about everything. Hubby and I pretty much made a joke out of it. What do you do with that sort of thing?? As I said we make jokes about it. Our current one is to use the word 'overwhelmed'.

It seems Hollywood and the news media often use 'pushing the envelope.' Every other person they interview seems to say that to describe their work.

Here's some ghetto slang that is growing tiresome by the day: "what it do", and "how you during?" The ghetto phase I desparately hate is "do you". I cannot stand that phase. The "N" word is disgusting. I'm tired of hearing male and or female calling one another "dog". Uhh how aweful. And "my bad".

I thought 'my bad' went out years ago, but I've been recently proven wrong.

Oh, I KNOW! I don't think I've heard anyone have such an impact on the English language as Larry the Cable Guy. LOL It's insanity!
