Yea, I think pick up lines can be a good icebreaker, like if they say them being funny, it can get a good laugh and start a conversation, but I've never known any of the creepy ones to have a good response when used sriously. The one your grandpa used isnt creepy, and can be seen as a serious question, so I guess it could work. Well it did didnt it? =)

lol - those are all just as rotten as they can be! Although "my friend over there wants to know if you think I'm cute" is at least a little different...
My grandparents met on a balcony in college. My grandfather used a pickup line: "Don't I know somebody that knows you?" Not as creepy as the pickup lines these days... lol

That's interesting... I think I would have crapped myself with excitement if a girl had tried to pick me up with a goofy pickup line... Of course, to a guy, it's the interest that matters. To girls, who probably get more interest than they ever want, it'd be the approach.
