Hi there, I have a little one who is having her 1st Easter so i'm kind of in the same boat - not wanting to give her too much of the sweet stuff. We have opted for 1 or 2 small chocolate things, but also a new outfit, a toy & a large soft toy - dressed as a rabbit! Have you considered perhaps getting them a rabbit? As in a real life pet! With your oldest being 7, he could take on the responsibility of a pet but also still get something Easter related! Then there's other things like toys, clothing, maybe a solid candy egg (the ones that you can hold on to forever)! I hope that helps a little. I know giving pets as gifts can be a iffy topic but they'd have a little easter bunny all of their own!

Well, since they do not need any sugar how about some sugar-free chocolate or candy.Admittedly it does cost a bit more, but the peace and quiet you will get SHOULD make it worthwhile.Plus, how about an aactual easter egg hunt using actual decorated eggs? They are still young enough to enjoy it.As for the nicknames,I notice a trend there and just want to wish you good luck!Still hope you have a great(and non-destructive) weekend.

LOL...I can't stop laughing about the nicknames. Oh my, you must have your hands full. I always tried to limit the sugary treats too when my kids were young. Usually I got them each a Disney movie that I knew they would enjoy, and some other little toys, like cars, coloring books, and just small things. It also helps to fill in the basket with real easter eggs (the hard boiled ones). I hope this helps a little bit. Happy posting.

This is what my children have found within their baskets for years. One chocolate treat, maybe some gum and then things like mixed nuts, trail mix, granola bars, and a small toy. With the Easter egg hunt I use real eggs as well as the one that could contain treats but add change in the place of treats. They have never complained. I also very much agree with the idea of making sure they understand the true meaning of Easter. Best wishes.

Tell them about the true meaning of Easter. You could also tell them about Noah's Ark and then take them to the zoo. While you are there, tell them that these are some of the animals on Noah's Ark.
