I think 'fake' would not be the appropriate word. The things they do aren't fake, 'choreographed' would be the better word. These guys undergo training to do what they do best inside the ring. Yes, the do hit the mat, do those chops and jump from ladders. But they execute thses in percision so that none of them would get hurt. Injuries do happen but they just can't stop beacuase that would ruin the show... unless it was really serious.

Wrestling is for entertainment purposes only. The wrestlers themselves are more like stuntmen/actors. They are in great shape and put themselves through brutal shows, but it is just that, a show. I have nothing against wrestling, I used to be an avid fan, but if you want real fight, maybe you should check out the UFC or Pride fighting ( I wouldn't reccommend for a younger audience though).

The storylines and rivalaries are all planned. The wrestlers/atheletes train a lot for performing the stunts in live show. Coz they dont get retakes like the movie stars. But then even the daily soaps on TV and movies have a storyline. Its for people to show maturity and take it as such. Just compare: A child enacting those stunts Vs a women enacting the saas-bahu politics from the daily soaps on her mother-in-law. Who is more dangerous ???
