Baby Horse arrived

Well Sable had her baby sometime between 4and 8 am this morning.
He is a big long legged boy.
He is fat so looks older then he is.
His is dumb as a box of rocks though.
We had to direct him to the teat which became an ordeal.
He would try to nurse every part of mom's body except the teat.
We would drip milk on the hand,let him suck the finger then direct
the head to the teat.He'd have it then again go up the udder too far .
It took about 2 hours to get him to the right spot.
My daughter says that we need to find a good name for him.
I said either "Cloudy or overcast"...She asked why and
I said "cause he's not to bright!"
She informed me that that was a mean statement!hehe

I wish I could have the opportunity to see a new born baby horse, they are just so dangly. If your daughter thinks it is mean to call him names because he is not to bright, how about flipping it around and calling him Leonardo or Einstein after to the smartest men that lived on this earth.

Being a big colt and having such a difficult time finding the teat, he may have been oxygen deprived at birth. Glad you took the time to work with him to help him find it. He looks like a nice colt. Congratulations!

Six right now but our new boy will be sold after Sheilana shows him in showmanship and halter this summer.That will give him a good start.Bot he has some legs.He looks like a dressage/hunter/jumper type so far but we'll know more later.
