I go to a summer camp every year to help teach and train boy scouts. Last summer while walking around I collected a lot of fallen nature findings. I decided to use the findings to cover a birdhouse and take it to potlatch for the silent auction. i will include a letter of where the findings were gathered and what they represent to me. i feel as if it will be like a shrine to camp. I will gather more findings this year and make one to keep for myself. it is not finished bt I wanted to show you all what I am makeing. Do you think this is more of a craft category item or is it an Art category item?

My roomie's dad has quite the sence of humor - kind of juvinile, but still... Anyway, we found this cute bird house that was made like an outhouse & the roomie and a friend that came to visit crafted it up with stuff from around the house/yard & craft store for him. The friend even put a little seat inside with some craft store "magazines" for reading material, they made a little roll of tp & twisted some wire to make a holder, put some glue, paint & cat litter together to make a peeling looking roof. It was very cute.

I would loved to have seen a photo of that. I'll bet your roomie's dad loved it. Good job, such creative minds!

I would categorize it as art. If you had placed the items in a packet to be put together by the purchaser, then I would have said it was a craft. Its a great idea though. Thinking about how popular scrapbooking seems to have become, it could be an extension of that same concept. I think it could be called a "memory" house or something like that. I know..pretty nuts. LOL

Oh NO sagemother, you're not "nuts". I love that name. i'll call it a memory house on the paper I plan to give with it explaining what it is and how the items were gathered at camp. Thanks for the idea.
