evry country has its main language but this language has subgroups or as we say dialects . here in egypt we have not less than 5 dialects of egyptian arabic which is by the turn is one of main 5 dialects of arabic . the odd thing that egyptian native speaker can hardly understand that of morocco or that of saudi arabia . the nearest dialect of arabian dialects to the egyptian is the lebanees one . here is the list of arabian dialects
1- egyptian , 80 milliom speakers
2- western , 30 million speakers
3- eastern , 20 million speakers
4- shamy (seria , lebanon , jordan ) , 19 million speakers
now the question is from where this variation occured ???

having different dialects is more than natural. every human being or class of humans try to customize the language to which they are exposed as per their easiness and manners and there own experiences. i mean thats the reason we have so many languages in the first place while starting from a single human being or a group of human beings. it's the creative nature of humans, human groups, societies etc that gives any language a distinct and different color. e.g imagin a case of two people who know the same language but are separated and have to live in two distinct places completely different from each other. for example one goes to a mountanous area, with wild animals, birds and a sea shore nearby. the other one goes to green planes with crops, domestic type animals and only the canals. so now as per their observation and experience, they will create new words to give names to different objects which are not known to the other person. now both of them started with the same basic language and will end up like after 40 years in a language not so easily understood by the other one. expand this theory to the whole world and you will get the answer. i hope i have answered your question.

I think you are near from the write explanation . like languages (arabic,hebrew,aramic,assyrian) all these of the same origin it is shocking to know that the same words in all languages but with different pronounciation .
I in arabic is ana , in hebrew ani
we in arabic is nahno . in hebrew is nakhno
and so and so

You are right. many languages have similar words for same thing but a completely different pronunciation and accent. you will see that many basic words like father, mother and other words have striking similarities in different languages. Arabic is derived from hebrew and another language. Urdu is derived from Arabic, turkish and persian because the Army of the Akbar emperor was composed of soldiers from Arabic, turkish and ersian areas and hence they invented a new language which was called urdu. it's literal meanings are language of army (lashkar). this is my mother tongue:-)

yes,you said it,you know,china is a very large country,and of course,there are many dialects in different regions,it is funny,and sometimes a chinese may get no ideal of what another chinese said,it is true,cuz the dialects differ from each other to a large extent.
