Can you add tags to discussions that don't have any responses?

I started a post called "Awesome Thrash Metal Band - Rumpelstiltskin Grinder" and it hasn't had any responses. Well, that's not really my concern, but when I checked up on it, I noticed that I only tagged it with the band name and the genre, "thrash metal." I should've tagged it with "music" as well, but now I can't and no one else has tagged it either, since there have been no responses. Is there anything I can do?

No, there is no way for you to add further tags. I had the very same problem when I first started at Mylot, because I started a discussion on opera and wanted to add opera and music as tags. However, since I was not aware of the need for commas I submitted "opera music" as a single tag.
The only way is to rely on someone else adding tags to your discussion, so I shall add them for you.
