If you're referred to an income generating site, do you bypass the referral ID?

Let's face it, a lot of our well meaning friends also refer us to income generating sites like mylot.com or agloco.com. Whenever they refer us, they provide a URL where their referral ID also appears. If you're the type who initially does a "background check" on that site and you find yourself interested to sign up, do you bypass the referral ID (and go to the main index page) or do you sign up under your friend?

Most of the time, I sign up for the one who introduced me to that particular site. I give him/ her the benefit of sharing a particular information that was really helpful to me.

Hi and thank you for responding to this thread. Yes, I think it's good practice to also acknowledge the person who referred you to that site. Especially if it's an income generating site. I think it's but proper :)

I dont see a reason, why i should bypass the refer's name while I sign up. It is as simple. If I like the program, and I wish to join... why not give the credit to the person who brought me here? I have seen some people are PAYING to get referrrals. AND there are people who GIVE AWAY some token gifts, if someone joins under him. These days, the affiliate market is growing leaps and bounds. so, this is really a seriuos issue. What would you gain, if you join direct to the company?
