So many of you have heard me talk about my daughters swimming carnivals, that I thought I would write a diary of the day of a carnival. So he goes:Get up early. Prepare food & drinks.Prepare swimming gear, bathers, towels, change of clothes, etc. Depart, sometimes travelling up to one hour to get to pool. On arrival, register the swimmer. Organise time keeping roster. Find a spot to set up and sit. Examine program, & check that all details are corect. Explain to swimmer the order of events she is in. Organise swimmer exercises. Organise swimmer warm ups in pool. Have a coffee, if not time keeping straight away. Watch events. At some point I will be rostered to time keep, so I go up to finish line, & get my stop watch. Spend up to one hour time keeping. Go back to my spot. Watch my daughter competing. Buy another coffee. Watch other team mates competing. Record her swimming times. Check to see if she is in any finals. Eat lunch. Maybe more timekeeping. Trophy presentation. End of Day. Organise cleaning & packing up all gear. Organise daughter to change of bathers. Drive home.

It sounds like a very busy day, but fun. I've never heard of swimming carnivals. My kids were never involved in anything like that. You must be very tired now.

Thanks for an overview of the day. Why didn't you pack a thermos of coffee? How did she do? Why can she not organize herself? Not sure of her age. Hope it was a fun day for everyone and that you will share another day in your lives again. Love the doings of Australia.

You are right, I should have packed a thermos of coffee. I ran out of time in the morning. Plus, I have to carry everything from the car to the swimming pool, and as I had a folding chair, it gets a bit much. My daughter is nearly 14, and she should be organising more herself. The swimming gear for a start. At the actual event I have to organise timekeeping.

Sounds like a very busy but hectic day. You must make a list so you stay so organized. Did your daughter get a trophy this time? You must have been exhausted on the drive home.
