Do you think the book tells more about a story, or does the movie make the story more understandable and make it "come alive" for you? I remember I once saw The Scarlet Letter w/Demi Moore and thought it was interesting, but had more "action" than the book to generate movie sales, whereas when Hawthorne published the novel in 1851, the "action" may not have been as emphasized due to the type of people reading in that era (usually the social elite).

I like reading books for Reading has no boundaries and a person's imagination has no limit. While watching a movie is like the short-cut of the story told in the book.
